Pork holds an important place in the cultural, social, economic, and political spheres of North Carolina. From the fierce debate over eastern vs. western style barbecue sauces to the heavier questions raised by rapid expansion of concentrated hog farming in the state, the topic of pork gives native Tar Heels plenty to chew on when they come together around the table.
